Bill Conger | Chief Curator

Appointed in October of 2017, Curator of Collections and Exhibitions at Peoria Riverfront Museum, Bill Conger is formerly Senior Curator of Contemporary Art at University Galleries of Illinois State University, a post he held for twelve years. Bill oversees the content at the museum and is responsible for a number of self-curated exhibitions such as “American Verses” and “Heart.” In this role, he has worked with philanthropist, Alice Walton’s foundation Art Bridges on projects with the Whitney Museum of American Art and the American Folk Art Museum.

Bill is also an artist who received his master of fine arts degree from Illinois State University in 1993. On numerous occasions, he has served on panelist, jurist, and lecturer and has three artist books published. His work has been exhibited throughout the U.S. as well as Austria, Germany, Poland, Ireland and New Zealand with venues such as the Herron School of Art, the School of the Art Institute of Chicago, the St. Louis Art Museum, and Golden Parachutes in Berlin, and the Drawing Center in New York City.
