RHUMBOOGIE ON THE PLAZA: A SUMMER MUSIC SERIES

May - October | Thursday Nights | Doors Open at 6 p.m., Performance at 7 p.m. 

Join us on the Peoria Riverfront Museum's Sun Plaza for a summer music series featuring local and regional jazz artists, inspired by Preston Jackson's Bronzeville to Harlem: An American Story . This series event will take place select Thursdays this summer, May through October, featuring artists from the Chicago area as well as regional and local musicians. Get down and boogie with us!

May 28, 2026 | Lowdown Brass Band

Lowdown Brass Band is a Chicago-based all-horn ensemble that blends hip hop, soul, and reggae with traditional New Orleans brass. They are known for their high-energy performances that combine street beat rhythms with jazz, creating a modern, genre-bending, brassy night of entertainment.

Pippi and Daniel and the Music Experience deliver an eclectic blend of feel-good music of originals and cover tunes backed by their dynamic 9-piece group. Their performances are irresistibly lively, danceable, and crowd-engaging. If you enjoy the 1960’s and 1970’s classics like The Temptations, Earth Wind and Fire, Chicago, Blood Sweat and Tears, and The Fifth Dimension, you won’t want to miss this performance.

July 23, 2026 | The Matthew Curry Band

The Matthew Curry Band is a blend of roots rock, blues rock, and Southern Rock. Born is Bloomington, Illinois, singer-songwriter Matthew Curry is known for his guitar-driven American music, incorporating elements of jam bands and old school country. The Matthew Curry Band has opened for the greats, including The Doobie Brothers, Peter Frampton, Steve Miller Band, and Journey. Known as a prodigy who began touring young, Curry’s music focuses on blues-based rock, with high energy, bluesy guitar work.

August 27, 2026 | The Brazilionaires

The Brazilionaires are a central Illinois based band that plays and infectious blend of Latin jazz, bossa nova, and samba, infused with pop and rock influences. The strong rhythm section features guitars, percussion, drums and horns, while the songs feature lyrics in English, Portuguese, and Spanish. The band was formed in central Illinois in 2012 but they’ve gone on to tremendous success in the Nashville scene and beyond. Mostly recording and releasing from their Nashville home studio, the Peoria area is extremely lucky to have them back home for this concert.

September 24, 2026 | Special Guest Performer!

Don't miss this special artist, to be officially announced later this summer. With music deeply rooted in American folk tradition and heavily influenced by artists like John Prine, Arlo Guthrie and Steve Goodman, this special guest performer's songwriting bridges the gap between small-town rural life and big city grit, focusing on the stories of hard working everyday people.

Grand Finale | October 8, 2026 | Preston Jackson and Friends

Preston Jackson (lead guitar) gathers with long-time collaborators John Miller (bass), Mike Nellas (bass/keyboards), Manny Lopez II (trumpet), Manny Lopez III (percussion) and the one and only Judy Page on vocals for a jazzy, bluesy close to the season. This iconic Peoria-based band plays the classic standards we all know and love. Not to be missed!
